Playing in only their second-ever European Championships, Slovakia will be determined to rebuff the ‘whipping boys’ tag put on them for being part of this group. In 2016, they surprised many by progressing into the Round of 16 after some gritty performances. This time, the determined Slovakia squad aims to replicate something similar & produce some real shocking results to move into the knockout rounds.

The reality of the situation for Slovakia is that they will have to defend their socks off to get any results in the group stages. The man who really needs to step up to the occasion is their star defender Milan Skriniar. Fresh of winning the Serie A title with Inter Milan, he’s going into the Euros high on confidence. However, Skriniar has to prove why he’s regarded as one of the best defenders in Italy.

A bullish warrior at the back, he doesn’t shy away from putting his body on the line when it comes to making clutch challenges. He can be aggressive with his tackles and is very sharp when it comes to winning key duels inside the area. Skriniar has to maintain a rock-solid defensive line for Slovakia to frustrate opponents & limit their scoring chances.

Prior to Euro 2020 Slovakia has managed to Qualify the European championship only in Euro 2016 edition in which they surprised the football pundits by reaching the knockout stage (Round of 16).
